Art Therapy Art therapy at our school is rooted in sensory exploration, offering students the opportunity to engage with a variety of materials and discover their unique properties through hands-on experience. It is essential to allow students to touch, explore, and interact freely with materials of different textures and qualities—encouraging creativity, curiosity, and play. By experimenting with these materials, students learn about their distinct characteristics (e.g., heavy, light, cold, hot, wet, dry, sticky, soft, thin), fostering both cognitive and sensory development. Through activities such as coloring, doodling, gluing, and painting, students gain valuable first experiences that promote a sense of control, success, and satisfaction. These creative processes not only encourage self-expression but also build awareness of how to work with various mediums to create meaningful outcomes. Art therapy is offered both individually and in groups, with each activity carefully tailored to the child's developmental level, motor abilities, and emotional needs. Activities are designed to explore non-verbal channels for expressing feelings through visual work, while also enhancing fine motor skills and social interaction. By working with different materials and engaging in creative play, students strengthen their self-confidence, improve their emotional expression, and experience the joy of accomplishment. In every session, the emphasis is on exploration, enjoyment, and the cultivation of positive, spontaneous experiences that nurture each student’s growth and well-being.
